Stella is the main character of the PSP game Black★Rock Shooter THE GAME. She is a "living weapon" given the codename BRS, and was designed to combat the alien forces that invade the Earth in the near future, and becomes part of the sole resistance force that fight against the invaders.

Appearance

BRS takes the appearance of a blue-eyed teenage pale-skinned girl with long black hair tied in uneven ponytails, with the right being shorter than the left. During battle a blue flame appears from her eye in order to increase the power of her attacks and activate abilities. Around her neck is a pair of dogtags and she also has two lines of barcode-like text on her midriff.
BRS has two canonical outfits throughout the course of the game.
Her first outfit is called "Normal Suit" (ノーマルスーツ, nōmaru sūtsu), which is the default outfit for Grays. She wears a black jacket with a white stripe down both sleeves and the logo of the UEF-PSS on her left shoulder. Additionally, all-black gloves can be seen at the end of the sleeves. The jacket covers a black string bikini and below, a pair of black shorts with various pouches affixed to it. She wears black boots with a simliar pattern to her jacket and a pouch on her right thigh.
Later in the game, with the original outfit heavily damaged, she obtains new clothes called "Booster Unit" (ブースターユニット, būsutā yunitto) from Gray, which has a small jet engine affixed to a pair of mechanical wings mounted on the lower back of her jacket. This outfit grants better heat management during evasive manuveurs in-game.
She also possesses 2 weapons, the Black Blade and the Rock Cannon, which can both be upgraded to grant BRS more firepower and slashing capabilities.

Personality

At the end of her mission at Moscow, she risked her life to save a can of cherries from the blast, since it was a small token of thanks; she possibly loves cherries.

BRS was born on 22nd September 2035, and was named Stella by Professor Gibson. Gibson, who had abandoned everything else he had worked for, took Stella with him and fled from his research facility in Russia 3 days later and went back to live in San Francisco.
Knowing that BRS would suffer the same flaw of deteriorating memory as the past clone soldiers, Professor Gibson later began his research to help preserve Stella's memory from an external device. With help from his techicians, he successfully made a stasis tube that would help Stella increase physical strength while retaining her memories. Professor Gibson decided to contact the UEF and formally announces BRS' existance, considering her as the last hope of mankind.
Stella was confined to the stasis tube at the age of 6, despite her refusal. Project 12 was announced, with the plan of having Stella to stay in the tube for 12 years so she would be prepared to fight the aliens.
However, in 2051 aliens began their 3rd wave of invasion with numbers of Armaments greater than the first two. On the 25th of September, the remaining 12 UEF members, who were also the last men on Earth, decided to awaken BRS 2 years earlier than planned due to the urgency of the situation.
Black★Rock Shooter is one of the last residents on a dead Earth, joining the last stand of the remaining forces of Earth to fight against beings called the Seven Apostles. She is considered to be the ultimate weapon, whose abilities are the only hope to save Earth from utter destruction.

Insane Black★Rock Shooter(インセインブラック★ロックシューター, Insein Burakku Rokku Shuutaa) is presumed to be another form of Black★Rock Shooter. She does not appear in the OVA. Her bladed weapon does appear in the OVA however. She first appeared on huke's blog and his pixiv account.

Appearance

Compared to Black★Rock Shooter, Insane Black★Rock Shooter has purple eyes with a flame of the same color emerging from her left eye and fangs. Her outfit is a black armor, covering her chest, left arm and legs. Her jacket is a torn black cape and her entire right arm is a robotic appendage holding a vicious blade. Her hairstyle resembles the same as that of BRS, she wears a black crown-like object with a white cross design which wraps around her longer lock of hair. A few chains wrap around her hair and on her waist.

Black★Rock Shooter Beast

Black★Rock Shooter Beast (ブラック★ロックシュータービースト Burakku Rokku Shuutaa Biisuto) is likely another "form" of the Black★Rock Shooter character. She first appeared on huke's blog and personal account on Pixiv.

Appearance

Much like Black★Rock Shooter, BRSB possesses blue eyes and black hair. However, she now sports a different outfit, along with a shorter hairstyle, and new weapon.
Her hands are donned in claw-like gloves similar to that of Black★Gold Saw and thigh-high metallic greaves. Her shorts are replaced with a skirt and she now wears a tank-top. Most notably is the blue crown, most likely formed by the flames that emit from her eyes. Her traditional, much larger cannon is replaced by a smaller handgun (named "Seven-Shots") and a much larger sword (named "BRSBLADE") similar to Dragon Slayer's broadsword.


Like BRS, she also possess a symbol.

White Rock Shooter or WRS (ホワイト・ロック・シューター Howaito Rokku Shūtā) is a character for the RPG Black★Rock Shooter THE GAME, taking the role of the main antagonist and the final boss.
Originally, she is known as Sing Love (シング・ラブ), a famous singer on Earth before the alien invasion that decimated most of Earth and the human population.
WRS is voiced by Maaya Sakamoto.

Appearance

White Rock Shooter's appearance consists of a white and magenta futuristic outfit as a theme. She wields a giant curved scythe (as big as her) named "White Scythe" with ease. She also wields a Rock Cannon and a 'White Blade'. She has two white "wings" sticking out of her back, composed of four smaller wings each. In her EX mode, these become more apparent to angel wings, with a halo like object on the far back. These can engulf themselves in magenta flames while in battle. Both wings have a black star on them.
Parallel to BRS, her flame is on the right side rather than left and its color is magenta.
Her hair is separated into two even long twintails.
Her appearance is similar to Black★Rock Shooter, but more complicated and the main colors are magenta and white, compared to Black★Rock Shooter's black and blue color theme.

Plot

WRS is an extraterrestrial being that arrived on Earth in a human form as Sing Love on 24th December 2031, nearly 20 years before the story of BRS THE GAME. As a "human" she resides in San Francisco as a singer. Her song was very popular and became a chart hit, with her image appearance on posters in cities such as San Francisco and New York. Despite her popularity, little was known about her identity.
She later worked with Professor Gibson and participated in human cloning. She is the source of the Gray clones, including Nana and Stella, of which the latter is addressed as "White" as Stella is considered as the perfect clone of WRS.
Apart from the end of the tutorial, WRS did not make appearance in the game until the end. Her identity was hinted by the Sing Love posters dotted in cities, as well as the aliens addressing her indirectly as the "Governor" (総督, Soutoku).
Stella confronts WRS in Moon Terrace, where she presumably resides for the duration of the game. It is revealed that everything was behind her doing: Be it alien invasion, mankind's destruction, and her clones, they were all part of her "game". Among those her most desired "game" is to fight against her perfect clone. Ultimately she lost in the battle with Stella. In her final words, she said it no longer matters who remain on Earth as both her and Stella are "the same", and that she has enjoyed what she has desired.

Battle Skills

• Making World (メイキングワールド, Meikingu Wārudo) - Boosts her Attack stats and enables life recovery for a short period of time.

• Dead End (デッドエンド, Deddo Endo) - WRS rotates her scythe counterclockwise, forming multiple pink cannonballs, and aiming at BRS. It is impossible to escape their fury.

EX Mode

• White Doctrine (ホワイトドクトリン, Howaito Dokutorin) - She is completely immune to damage and possibly effects from any BRS' battle skills. This effect may last very longer; WRS can only be damaged by normal attacks.

• Grateful Sun Ray (グレイトフル サン レイ, Gureitofuru San Rei) - WRS transforms her large wings and cannon into a giant-turret like cannon. At the top, a sun like figure begins to rotate counterclockwise, charging a very large energy ball, and WRS fires from behind. The large energy ball can be damaged and can divide itself until it/they hit BRS or if it/they was seriously damaged a lot.

Black★Rock Shooter (ブラック★ロックシューター, Burakku Rokku Shuutaa) is the titular character and main protagonist of many projects, including the anime OVA Black★Rock Shooter, the RPG of the same name, the upcoming anime series and the manga Black★Rock Shooter ~Innocent Soul~. She was an original concept created by huke who participated in the release of the song "Black★Rock Shooter" by supercell.
She is voiced by Kana Hanazawa in the OVA and by Maaya Sakamoto in the PSP game.
Original Concept Black★Rock Shooter's original design is of a pale-skinned, blue-eyed girl, with black hair in uneven twintails; the right lock of her hair is shorter than her left. She bears two scars on her midriff. A blue flame shoots out from her left eye.
Her clothes consist of a string bikini top under a black jacket. The jacket has a white stripe running along the length of each of her sleeves and has a white star design on the front (left side) and back. She also wears a pair of tight-fitting shorts, gloves, and black knee-high boots.
Her weapons consist of a black-hilted katana later named as Black Blade and a large gun called ★rock Cannon.

OVA Adaptation

The OVA adaptation added some details to Black★Rock Shooter. Unlike in her original design, her eyes have a concentric circle pattern, a trait she shares with other characters in the OVA. Black★Rock Shooter is also given a personality in the OVA. She is depecited as a calm and collected girl, not speaking at all until her confrontation with her "other self", Kuroi Mato, near the end of the OVA. She also does not focus on anything except the most important thing she has to do at the moment.
She is shown to be very skilled in fighting, despite being quickly taken down by Black★Gold Saw in her first shown battle. Black★Rock Shooter is able to fight evenly with Dead Master, despite appearing to try not to hurt her.

Black★Rock Shooter (referred to in the game as "Stella") undergoes another change of design at the release of the PSP game Black★Rock Shooter THE GAME. One noticeable change is that she now has a pair of metallic wings and a jet engine on her back portion, which allows her to maneuver through the air and cushion landings easily. Her skin color in game is less pale than her original design. Also, she experiences a wider range of emotion than her OVA counterpart.

Black★Rock Shooter ~Innocent Soul~

The manga Black★Rock Shooter ~Innocent Soul~ depicts the titular character with a poncho instead of a jacket to cover her upper body. Also, her ★rock Cannon and Black Blade are merged to form her constant companion, which comes in the form of a shapeshifting snake around her right arm.

Black★Rock Shooter is initially shown in her world, fighting against Black★Gold Saw for an unknown reason. Though the silhouette is unclear, it looks like Black★Rock Shooter is impaled by Black★Gold Saw and left to be crushed under falling rocks. She later appears to be waking up and at the edge of a broken bridge. She is now wearing a long trench coat and sporting a new weapon, the ★rock Cannon, along with now displaying her well-known scars. She crosses many different scenes and finally ends up at a castle which turns out to be the residence of the Dead Master. Initially, her reasons for fighting or pursuing the Dead Master are unknown.
Inside the palace, Black★Rock Shooter finds her opponent;

she holds out her hand, and the Dead Master responds by attacking. The two begin their fight, with Black★Rock Shooter igniting her eye and powers, both of them seemingly equal. The Dead Master manages to ensnare Black★Rock Shooter in a web of chains, where she is apparently trapped. However, as Kuroi Mato comes to terms with her feelings, Black★Rock Shooter gains the strength to break free of her chains with her bare hands. Once again, she holds out her hand to the Dead Master. The Dead Master is confused, and when she falls off a ledge, Black★Rock Shooter pulls her up and embraces her. The Dead Master, unable to handle this, escapes from Takanashi Yomi's body and dissolves.
Black★Rock Shooter is then shown with Kuroi Mato, her human counterpart. She speaks for the first time to ask Mato if she wants to save Yomi. Mato answers that more than saving Yomi, she wants her back with her. Hearing that answer, Black★Rock Shooter and Kuroi Mato merge together. It is unknown at what point the merge was, but it is implied to have been before the Dead Master fight.

Black★Rock Shooter (2012)

She is seen in the Otherworld. After walking around, she comes upon some green mist, and is led into a strange area where she is tormented by mysterious spider-like robotic creatures and Chariot. At one point, she screams in pain as one of the robots stabs and drills into her stomach.
